The Cote d’Azure, or French Riviera as you may have heard it called, is one of those must visit places, at least once in a lifetime. It is a place that appears on many bucket lists, and for good reason.
Weather at Cote d’Azure is Mediterranean, so is always beautiful. The Riviera is a favourite haunt of many celebrities, who have holidayed here down through the years, and it is easy to see why. The landscape and architecture of the Cote are blindingly beautiful, and instantly unforgettable.
The largest city in the Cote region is Nice, with a population of roughly 350,000 people. The Nice Cote d’Azure airport is the third busiest in France, but interestingly, only 45% of tourists entering the region come in by air.
Some of the towns and cities within the region are instantly recognisable – names such as Cannes, Saint Tropez and Monaco being some of the more well known places.
If you intend to make the journey to the Cote d’Azure during the summer months, you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to events and activities occurring in the area – see website here for more details. To give an example, in the 3 months of summer, you could choose from the Formula 1 Grand Prix, held in Monaco, in May. Or the Rose Festival, also in May, at Grasse, or alternatively, the annual Jazz festival in July, at Nice.
There is an event every month of the year, so there really is no bad time to go, even if it’s just for a weekend break. With the weather being Mediterranean, it never gets too cold, for example, the average low temperature in Nice in January comes in at about 5.5 degrees centigrade (41.9 Fahrenheit). Rainfall is sparse too, with an average of just 61 in Toulon, compared with 111 days in Paris.
Given it’s close proximity to the sea, there will be plenty of opportunity for sun lovers to top up on their tan. Shopping enthusiasts will be overjoyed with the selection of stores and outlets in and around the region. There is really something for everybody in the Cote d’Azur.
The Cote d’Azure is, and has been, the choice of celebrities, painters, socialites and artists of all kinds down through the years. Why not find out what all the fuss is about!
